On September 2017, MSC(Mediterranean Shipping Company), a Swiss shipping company ordered six 23,000 twenty-foot equivalent unit(TEU)-class container ships to SHI.

SHI announced that they completed the first container ship and that it successively left its shipyard on July 6th.

Named ‘MSC GÜLSÜN’, this vessel is 400 meters long, 61.5 meters wide and 33.2 meters high. It is currently the world’s largest container ship with the capacity to carry 23,756 TEU containers at once.

Topped with SHI’s next-generation ‘SVESSEL’ smartship system, this vessel allows economical operation.

The ship is also environmental-friendly. It is possible to install a scrubber to meet the regulations on sulfur oxide emissions and it can also be easily converted to a LNG-fueled vessel in the future.
