[Mediapen=Kwon Ga-lim] For three consecutive months, Korea kept top spot in global shipbuilding orders.

According to Clarkson Research, a British shipping services provider, Korean shipbuilders secured 10 ships in July, amounting 270,000 compensated gross tonnages(CGTs). This accounts for half of the total 25 ship orders placed around the world with 550,000 CGTs.

Next in line was China with 200,000 CGTs to build 11 ships and Japan with 30,000 CGTs for 1 ship.

In terms of cumulative orders, the gap between market share of China and Korea decreased from 17%P to 8%P. 

For the first seven months of this year, China’s cumulative orders recorded 4,740,000 CGTs with 40% market share, closely followed by Korea with 3,740,000 CGTs and 32% market share.
