This technology is expected to be equipped in robo-taxis co-developed by Hyundai Motor Group and Yandex, Russia’s largest search engine. The two companies joined hands to develop self-driving car platform and revealed its Sonata prototype in July. They plan to unleash their robo-taxis in Russia by 2020 and are currently testing 100 development vehicles for any flaws.

Hyundai Mobis also successfully developed technologies to protect passengers from further damage. One safety device keep passengers in place when the car shows sudden and rapid movement.

“Technologies that minimizes damage should be fitted into most cars for safety measures”, said an official from the automobile industry. He added “Other hardware and software should be developed so that cars can react on its own in case of sensor malfunctioning”.
