최근 미국 FCC인증과 인도 BIS승인 등 주요 국가의 규제절차가 완료되면서, 삼성의 차세대 폴더블 스마트폰인 ‘갤럭시 Z폴드 8시리즈’와 ‘Z플립 8’‘갤럭시 워치9’의 상용화가 임박한 것으로 알려졌습니다. 

24일 아랍에미리트의 칼라즈타임즈는 ‘삼성의 차세대 폴더블폰 출시 승인, 갤럭시 Z폴드 8시리즈에서 기대할 수 있는 것’이라는 기사로 새로 출시될 차세대 폴더블폰에 대해 분석했습니다.

보도에 따르면, 이번 신제품이 단순한 성능개선을 넘어 사용자경험을 대폭 확장하는 형태로 출시될 전망입니다.

Samsung Electronics will unveil its next-generation foldable phone lineup to the world at the 'Galaxy Unpacked' event in London on the 22nd of next month. With the recent completion of regulatory procedures in major countries, including FCC certification in the US and BIS approval in India, the commercial launch of Samsung’s next-gen foldables—the ‘Galaxy Z Fold 8 Series’, ‘Z Flip 8’, and ‘Galaxy Watch 9’—is reportedly imminent. On the 24th, Khaleej Times, a media outlet from the United Arab Emirates, analyzed the upcoming devices in an article titled, "Samsung's Next-Gen Foldable Phone Launch Approved: What to Expect from the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Series." According to the report, these new products are projected to expand user experience significantly, going far beyond simple hardware upgrades.

이번 시리즈의 가장 큰 변화는 모델의 이원화 전략입니다. 그간 폴더블폰은 매년 하나의 모델만 나왔지만, 올해는 두 개로 나뉩니다. 기존 폴더블폰의 정통성을 계승한 플래그십 모델 '갤럭시 Z폴드 8울트라'와 새로운 폼팩터를 채택한 '갤럭시 Z폴드 8와이드'를 동시에 선보일 예정입니다.

‘갤럭시 Z폴드 8울트라’는 압도적인 기술력을 집약한 모델입니다. 한마디로 “얼마나 기술이 좋은지 봐라"는 모델입니다. 펼쳤을때 두께가 4.1mm에 불과한 초슬림 디자인을 구현했습니다. 또 5000mAh 대용량 배터리와 45W 고속 충전기능을 지원합니다. 프리미엄 카메라 시스템을 탑재해 최고의 모바일 경험을 제공할 것으로 보입니다. 

‘갤럭시 Z폴드 8와이드’는 기존 세로형 디자인에서 벗어나 사용성을 극대화한 모델입니다.  "폴드 화면이 너무 길어서 불편하다"는 고객 피드백을 반영한 것입니다. 5.4인치 외부 디스플레이와 더 넓은 내부 화면을 통해 영상콘텐츠 소비와 멀티태스킹 환경에서 최적화된 편의성을 제공할 것으로 기대됩니다. 

The biggest shift in this series is the dual-model strategy. While only one Fold model had been released each year, the lineup will split into two this year. Samsung plans to simultaneously introduce the 'Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra', a flagship model inheriting the legacy of existing foldables, and the 'Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide', featuring a brand-new form factor.The ‘Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra’ is a powerhouse packed with Samsung's cutting-edge technologies. In short, it is a model designed to showcase "just how advanced our technology can be." It achieves an ultra-slim design with a thickness of just 4.1mm when unfolded. It also supports a large 5,000mAh battery and 45W fast charging. Equipped with a premium camera system, it is expected to deliver the ultimate mobile experience.The ‘Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide’ is a model designed to maximize usability by moving away from the traditional, vertically elongated design. This directly reflects customer feedback stating that "the Fold screen is too narrow and uncomfortable to use." With a 5.4-inch cover display and a wider main screen, it is expected to provide optimal convenience for media consumption and multitasking.

사용자의 오랜 숙원이던 '힌지 주름' 문제 해결에도 집중했습니다. 디스플레이 분야에서는 와이드 모델에 두꺼운 초박형 유리(UTG)를 적용해 내구성을 확보하고, 화면의 주름 가시성을 크게 낮출 전망입니다. 

삼성전자가 올해 초 공개한 혁신적인 ‘접힘 기술’이 이번 시리즈에 어떻게 적용될지가 관전 포인트입니다. 

특히 하드웨어만 바꾸는 게 아니라, 구글의 최신 AI(제미니)를 폰 속에 깊숙이 집어넣습니다. 'AI폰'이라는 타이틀을 선점, 애플보다 앞서 나가겠다는 의도입니다.

애플도 접는 기기를 준비 중이라는 소문이 도는 만큼, 시장이 더 치열해지기 전에 전세계 동시 출시로 폴더블폰 시장의 '원조' 자리를 굳히겠다는 전략입니다.

Samsung has also focused on resolving the 'hinge crease', a long-standing demand from users. In terms of display technology, the Wide model is expected to use thicker Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) to secure durability and significantly lower the visibility of the screen crease. How Samsung’s innovative 'crease reduction technology', revealed earlier this year, will be applied to this series remains a key point to watch.Furthermore, Samsung is not just upgrading the hardware; it is deeply integrating Google’s latest AI platform (Gemini) into the devices. The strategy is to secure the 'AI Phone' title early on and stay ahead of Apple. As rumors circulate that Apple is also preparing foldable devices, Samsung aims to cement its position as the 'pioneer' of the foldable market through a simultaneous global launch before competition intensifies.
