[미디어펜=편집국]삼성전자의 베트남 스마트폰 양대 생산법인이 17년 만에 누적 수출액 5000억달러(약 700조원)를 돌파했다. 삼성전자의 베트남 스마트폰 공장이 그동안 만들어낸 수출 규모가 구체적인 누적 수치로 공개된 것은 이례적이다.

28일 베트남 정부와 현지 언론에 따르면 노태문 삼성전자 대표이사 사장은 전날 레민흥 베트남 총리와 만나 삼성전자 베트남 박닌법인(SEV)과 타이응우옌법인(SEVT)의 누적 수출액이 지난 6월 말 기준 5000억달러를 넘어섰다고 밝혔다.

삼성전자가 베트남에서 휴대전화 생산을 시작한 2009년 4월 이후 약 17년 만이다. 특히 이번 수치는 최근 공개된 삼성 베트남의 연간 또는 월별 수출 실적과 달리 두 핵심 스마트폰 생산법인이 생산 시작 이후 기록한 누적 수출 규모라는 점에서 주목된다.

Samsung Electronics' two major smartphone manufacturing subsidiaries in Vietnam have surpassed $500 billion in cumulative exports, reaching the milestone approximately 17 years after the Korean technology giant began mobile phone production in the country.

According to the Vietnamese government and local media on Friday, Samsung Electronics CEO TM Roh told Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung during a meeting a day earlier that cumulative exports from Samsung Electronics Vietnam (SEV) in Bac Ninh and Samsung Electronics Vietnam Thai Nguyen (SEVT) had exceeded $500 billion as of the end of June.

The milestone comes roughly 17 years after Samsung began mobile phone production in Vietnam in April 2009. Unlike recently disclosed monthly or annual export figures, the latest number represents the cumulative exports generated by Samsung's two core smartphone manufacturing operations since production began.

5000억달러라는 누적 수출액은 삼성전자가 베트남에서 스마트폰 생산체제를 구축한 이후 처음부터 지금까지 쌓아 올린 결과다.

삼성전자는 2008년 베트남 북부 박닌성에 휴대전화 생산공장을 건설하고 이듬해 4월 본격적인 생산에 들어갔다. 이후 타이응우옌성에도 대규모 생산시설을 구축하면서 베트남 내 스마트폰 생산능력을 확대했다.

이번에 공개된 수치는 박닌 SEV와 타이응우옌 SEVT 두 법인의 누적 수출액을 합산한 것이다.

단순 계산하면 생산 개시 이후 연평균 약 294억달러 규모의 제품을 해외시장으로 내보낸 셈이다. 특히 스마트폰 산업의 성장과 삼성전자의 글로벌 시장 확대 과정에서 베트남 생산법인의 수출 규모 역시 빠르게 증가했다.

앞서 삼성 베트남 법인들은 올해 1~7월에도 약 390억달러를 수출한 것으로 집계된 바 있다. 이번에 공개된 5000억달러는 최근 수출 실적을 넘어 삼성의 베트남 스마트폰 생산 역사 전체를 보여주는 숫자라는 점에서 차이가 있다.

The $500 billion figure represents cumulative exports generated since Samsung established its smartphone manufacturing operations in Vietnam.

Samsung built a mobile phone manufacturing facility in northern Vietnam's Bac Ninh province in 2008 and began production in April 2009. It later established another major production operation in Thai Nguyen province, substantially expanding its smartphone manufacturing capacity in the country.

The newly disclosed figure combines cumulative exports from the SEV operation in Bac Ninh and SEVT in Thai Nguyen.

On a simple annualized basis, the two operations have generated roughly $29.4 billion in exports per year since production began. Their export volume expanded rapidly alongside the growth of the global smartphone industry and Samsung Electronics' international business.

Samsung's Vietnamese subsidiaries were previously reported to have exported approximately $39 billion worth of products during the first seven months of this year. The newly disclosed $500 billion figure differs in that it captures the scale of Samsung's entire smartphone manufacturing history in Vietnam.

이번 기록이 공개된 장소도 눈길을 끈다. 노태문 사장이 베트남 정부 수반과 직접 만난 자리에서 삼성의 누적 수출 실적을 공개했기 때문이다.

베트남 정부에 따르면 노 사장은 면담에서 삼성의 베트남 사업 성과를 설명하면서 박닌과 타이응우옌 생산법인의 누적 수출액이 지난 6월 말 5000억달러를 돌파했다고 밝혔다.

삼성의 베트남 누적 투자액은 지난해 말 기준 약 240억달러에 이르는 것으로 전해졌다.

베트남 정부 역시 삼성의 투자 확대를 요청했다. 특히 첨단기술과 연구개발 등 고부가가치 산업 분야에서 삼성의 역할이 확대될 필요성을 강조한 것으로 전해졌다.

삼성도 베트남에서 첨단기술 분야의 연구개발 투자를 지속적으로 확대한다는 방침을 재확인했다.

The setting in which the milestone was disclosed is also notable, as Samsung Electronics CEO TM Roh presented the cumulative export figure directly during a meeting with Vietnam's prime minister.

According to the Vietnamese government, Roh highlighted Samsung's business achievements in the country and said cumulative exports from the Bac Ninh and Thai Nguyen manufacturing subsidiaries had surpassed $500 billion as of the end of June.

Samsung's cumulative investment in Vietnam is estimated at approximately $24 billion as of the end of last year.

The Vietnamese government also called for Samsung to expand investment, particularly in high-value-added sectors including advanced technologies and research and development.

Samsung reaffirmed its intention to continue expanding R&D investment in advanced technology fields in Vietnam.

이번 발표가 갖는 가장 큰 의미는 삼성 베트남 스마트폰 사업의 장기적인 수출 규모가 하나의 숫자로 확인됐다는 데 있다.

그동안 삼성 베트남 법인의 분기·반기·연간 실적이나 베트남 전체 수출에서 차지하는 비중은 비교적 자주 공개됐다. 그러나 생산을 시작한 2009년 이후 두 스마트폰 핵심 법인이 기록한 누적 수출액이 5000억달러를 넘어섰다는 수치는 이번 베트남 정부 발표를 통해 새롭게 확인됐다.

5000억달러는 우리 돈으로 약 700조원에 달하는 규모다. 지난해 한국의 연간 수출액과 비교해도 상당한 수준이다.

삼성이 베트남에서 휴대전화 생산을 시작한 2009년에는 지금과 같은 글로벌 스마트폰 공급망이 완성되기 전이었다. 이후 갤럭시 스마트폰 사업이 성장하는 과정에서 박닌과 타이응우옌 생산법인 역시 대형 수출기지로 성장했다.

올해 1~7월 수출 390억달러라는 단기 실적에 이어 이번에는 17년 누적 수출 5000억달러라는 장기 성적표가 공개되면서 삼성 베트남 스마트폰 사업의 실제 규모가 보다 선명하게 드러나게 됐다.

Quarterly, half-year and annual results from Samsung's Vietnamese subsidiaries, as well as their share of Vietnam's exports, have been disclosed relatively frequently. The revelation that cumulative exports from its two core smartphone subsidiaries have surpassed $500 billion since production began in 2009 provides a new measure of the operation's long-term scale.

The $500 billion figure is equivalent to roughly 700 trillion Korean won and represents a substantial amount even when compared with South Korea's annual exports.

When Samsung began producing mobile phones in Vietnam in 2009, today's global smartphone supply chain had yet to fully take shape. As the Galaxy smartphone business expanded globally, the Bac Ninh and Thai Nguyen operations developed into major export manufacturing hubs.

Following the previously disclosed figure of approximately $39 billion in exports during the first seven months of this year, the newly revealed $500 billion cumulative total provides a much clearer picture of the scale Samsung has built in Vietnam over the past 17 years.
