[미디어펜=편집국] 국내 철도차량 업체 우진산전(Woojin Industrial Systems)이 미국 로스앤젤레스(LA)에서 최대 175량 규모의 신형 경전철 차량(LRV) 수주전에 뛰어들었다.
25일 영국 철도 전문매체 레일웨이 가제트 인터내셔널(Railway Gazette International)과 미국 LA카운티 광역교통청(LA Metro)에 따르면 우진산전은 LA Metro가 추진하는 신형 경전철 차량 조달사업인 ‘P3030 New Light Rail Vehicle Procurement’ 입찰 숏리스트에 포함됐다.
LA Metro 공식 조달자료에 따르면 P3030의 기본 발주 물량은 33량이다. 여기에 6개의 옵션을 통해 최대 142량을 추가 발주할 수 있어 전체 사업 규모는 최대 175량에 달한다.
LA Metro는 2025년 1월31일 제안요청서(RFP)를 발행했으며 같은 해 8월 제안서를 접수한 뒤 평가와 경쟁협상 절차를 진행해 왔다.
우진산전의 숏리스트 진입은 LA Metro가 공식적으로 공개한 것이 아니라 레일웨이 가제트가 지난 24일 보도한 내용이다. 구체적인 경쟁업체와 최종 후보 수는 현재 공개되지 않았다.
South Korean rolling stock manufacturer Woojin Industrial Systems has been shortlisted for a Los Angeles Metro procurement that could involve up to 175 new light rail vehicles.
The development could mark an important expansion of Woojin’s U.S. business from the refurbishment of existing railcars into the supply of complete new-build light rail vehicles.
According to Railway Gazette International and official procurement documents from the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, Woojin has been shortlisted for LA Metro’s P3030 New Light Rail Vehicle Procurement.
LA Metro documents show that the base order covers 33 vehicles, while six options could add up to 142 more, bringing the potential total to 175 vehicles.
LA Metro issued the request for proposals on January 31, 2025, and received proposals in August before proceeding with evaluations and competitive negotiations.
Woojin’s inclusion on the shortlist was reported by Railway Gazette on September 24. LA Metro has not publicly disclosed the other shortlisted bidders or the total number of finalists.
