[미디어펜=편집국]현대자동차그룹이 사우디아라비아 왕세자가 이끄는 재단과 손잡고 중동지역의 미래 모빌리티 인재를 직접 길러내는 ‘인재 동맹’ 전선을 전격 확대했다. 이번 협력은 단순한 기업 사회공헌을 넘어, 사우디의 국가변혁 프로젝트인 ‘비전 2030’과 주파수를 맞추며 중동시장내 현대차의 핵심 네트워크를 선점한다는 포석이다.

8일(현지시간) 중동 금융·테크 전문매체 ‘인터내셔널 비즈니스 매거진’에 따르면, 현대차그룹은 사우디아라비아의 ‘무함마드 빈 살만 재단(이하 미스크)’과 함께 확대 개편된 ‘2026 공동 연수 프로그램’을 시작했다.

이번 프로그램을 통해 선발된 사우디의 우수 대학생 및 졸업생 10명은 현재 서울 양재동 현대차그룹 본사에서 8주간의 집중 인턴십 과정에 돌입했다.

Moving far beyond simple corporate social responsibility, this cooperation serves as a strategic maneuver to align frequencies with Saudi Arabia's national transformation project, 'Vision 2030,' and preemptively secure a core network within the Middle Eastern market.

According to International Business Magazine, Hyundai has launched an expanded "2026 Joint Traineeship Program" with the Mohammed bin Salman Foundation (Misk), bringing 10 selected Saudi interns to Seoul for an intensive eight-week program.

2025년 단 2명의 연수생으로 시작했던 시범사업은 정의선 현대차그룹 회장과 미스크 재단 CEO인 바드르 하무드 알바드르 박사간 연쇄 회동을 거치며 올해 그룹 차원의 대규모 정규 프로그램으로 격상됐다.

실제 사우디 현지 반응은 폭발적이었다. 중동내 현대차의 브랜드 위상이 급상승하면서 이번 모집에 무려 2500명이 넘는 사우디 청년이 지원했다. 현대차는 엄격한 서류 심사와 글로벌 커뮤니케이션 면접을 거쳐 최종 10명의 엘리트 인재를 선발했다. 

이들은 서울 본사의 △글로벌 전략 △미래 디자인 △핵심사업 운영부서에 배치돼 중동시장의 성장 전략 등 실제 프로젝트에 투입된다.

정의선 현대차그룹 회장은 “사우디아라비아는 현대자동차그룹의 장기 비전에 있어 핵심적인 전략시장이자 중요한 파트너”라며 “미스크 재단과 협력, 이번 인턴십 프로그램을 통해 재능있는 사우디 청년을 현대자동차그룹에 맞이하게 돼 기쁘다”고 밝혔다.

이어 “참가자들은 이번 경험을 통해 귀중한 실무능력과 현대자동차그룹의 사업, 혁신, 미래 비전에 대한 생생한 통찰력을 얻게 될 것”이라며 “이 프로그램이 미래 인재 육성에 기여하고, 한국과 사우디아라비아 간의 파트너십을 더욱 강화하며, 향후 심도 있는 협력을 도모할 수 있기를 기대한다”고 덧붙였다.

The initiative, which began as a pilot program in 2025 nurturing just two trainees, was upgraded to a large-scale group-wide standard program this year following a series of high-level meetings between Euisun Chung, Executive Chair of Hyundai Motor Group, and Dr. Badr Hamoud Al-Badr, CEO of the Misk Foundation.

The response on the ground in Saudi Arabia was explosive. Driven by Hyundai Motor Group's rapidly rising brand status in the Middle East, more than 2,500 young Saudi professionals flocked to apply for the latest cohort. Following a rigorous evaluation process that included strict document screening and global communication interviews, Hyundai selected the top 10 elite candidates. These individuals have been placed within critical business functions at the Seoul global headquarters, including Global Strategy, Futuristic Design, and Core Business Operations, to actively contribute to real-world projects targeting Middle Eastern market growth.

Euisun Chung, Executive Chair of Hyundai Motor Group, expressed his pleasure in welcoming talented Saudi youth, emphasizing that "Saudi Arabia is a key strategic market and an important partner in our long-term vision".He added that this program will empower participants with valuable, hands-on experience and deep insights into the company's innovation, further strengthening bilateral ties for future cooperation.

현대차그룹과 사우디의 밀월은 단순한 단기 인턴십에 그치지 않고, 거대한 산업 인프라 협력으로 진화하고 있다. 현대차그룹은 오는 11월 사우디 리야드에서 개최되는 중동 최대 규모의 인재 포럼인 ‘미스크 글로벌 포럼’에 공식 파트너로 참여한다.

이 자리에서 현대차는 지난해에 이어 2년 연속으로 ‘현대차그룹 스마트시티 워크숍’을 단독 개최할 예정이다. 사우디가 추진 중인 초거대 신도시 ‘네옴시티’ 프로젝트를 겨냥, 현대차의 친환경 수소 인프라, 미래 항공 모빌리티(AAM), 자율주행 기술을 사우디 차세대 리더에게 선보인다는 계획이다.

The alliance between Hyundai Motor Group and Saudi Arabia extends far beyond a short-term internship, evolving into a massive framework of industrial infrastructure cooperation. Hyundai Motor Group will participate as an official partner in the 'Misk Global Forum'—the largest talent and youth forum in the Middle East—slated to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, this coming November.

At the forum, Hyundai Motor Group is scheduled to exclusively host the innovative 'HMG Smart City Workshop' for the second consecutive year. Targeting the ultra-large gigaproject 'NEOM' smart city pushed by Saudi Arabia, the Group plans to showcase its advanced eco-friendly hydrogen infrastructure, Future Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), and autonomous driving technologies directly to Saudi's next-generation leaders.
