[미디어펜=편집국]LG전자가 가전제품 제조사라는 전통적인 틀을 깨고, 세계적인 인공지능(AI) 열풍으로 수요가 폭발 중인 글로벌 데이터센터의 핵심 전력 및 냉방 인프라 조달시장을 선점하며 '물리적 AI 에코시스템 통합자'로 변신했다.

25일(현지시간) 싱가포르 최대 일간지 ‘더 스트레이츠 타임스’의 심층 분석기사에 따르면, LG전자는 수십 년간 축적해 온 에어컨 냉매 컴프레서 및 대형 칠러 제조기술력을 무기삼아 고성능AI서버가 뿜어내는 엄청난 열기를 식히는 산업용 냉방공정과 스마트 전력분배 인프라 사업에 진입했다.

LG Electronics has broken through the traditional framework of being a consumer home appliances manufacturer and preempted the core power and cooling infrastructure procurement markets of global data centers—where demand is skyrocketing due to the worldwide artificial intelligence (AI) boom—transforming itself into an integrator of the physical AI ecosystem.

According to an in-depth analysis article by Singapore's largest daily newspaper The Straits Times on June 25 (local time), LG Electronics has entered the industrial cooling processes and smart power distribution infrastructure businesses—which cool the massive heat loads generated by high-performance AI servers—by leveraging its decades of accumulated engineering expertise in air-conditioner refrigerant compressors and large-scale industrial chillers as its core strength.

LG전자의 계열사인 LG CNS는 인도네시아 대기업 시나르마스 그룹과 협력해  자카르타 초거대 AI데이터센터의 인프라 공급계약을 수주했다.

이 하이테크 공장은 2026년 하반기 초기 30MW 규모로 실전 가동을 시작해 향후 220MW 체급까지 단계적으로 확장되도록 설계됐다. LG전자는 중앙 대형 칠러부터 룸별 냉방, 차세대 액체 냉각시스템까지 일체형 제어장치로 통합 공급, 추후 서버증설시 공장 인프라를 새로 뜯어고치지 않아도 되는 독보적인 연속성을 제공한다.

LG Electronics’ 'One LG' integrated infrastructure solution strategy unveils its first practical model through a local project in Jakarta, Indonesia.

LG CNS, an affiliate of LG Electronics, collaborated with Indonesia’s prominent conglomerate Sinar Mas Group to secure the infrastructure supply contract for a hyperscale AI data center in Jakarta. 

This high-tech facility is scheduled to begin commercial operations in the second half of 2026 with an initial capacity of 30 megawatts and is engineered to scale up progressively to a 220-megawatt profile over time. 

By providing an all-in-one integrated control architecture that encompasses everything from central plant chillers and room-level cooling units to next-generation liquid cooling systems, LG Electronics delivers distinct continuity that eliminates the need to overhaul factory infrastructure during future server expansions.

김재승 LG전자 아시아·태평양 지역대표는 "LG가 데이터센터시장에 맨땅에서 들어온다고 생각하지만, 우리는 이미 성숙한 대형 칠러 포트폴리오와 에너지·IT·빌딩 시스템을 모두 소유하고 있다"고 밝혔다. 

원 레이어(One LG) 솔루션은 공장 단지를 3개 전선으로 구조화한다. AI서버를 살리는 컴퓨팅 공간과 온도를 제어하는 지원 인프라, 전체 건물을 통제하는 운영 공간을 하나의 패키지로 조달하는 구조다.

싱가포르에 신설된 아시아 데이터센터 전담팀은 공장 납품 이후에도 독자적인 '데이터센터 냉방관리 소프트웨어'를 통해 인공지능기반 실시간 모니터링과 고장 사전예측 분석서비스를 제공한다. 

기계 오작동으로 인한 가동정체리스크를 차단하는 대가로 장기 고정구독료를 받는 비즈니스 모델을 안착시킨다는 것이다.

LG Electronics Asia Pacific CEO Jaeseung Kim noted that LG is leveraging its existing, mature chiller, energy, and IT portfolios to enter the data center market, rather than starting from scratch. 

The 'One LG Solution' integrates computing, infrastructure, and operations management into a single, comprehensive package.

Furthermore, a new Singapore-based team will use proprietary software for AI-powered, real-time monitoring and predictive maintenance. 

The core business strategy involves securing stable, long-term subscription revenue by preventing operational failures.
