[Mir’s Global Radar] Yura Corporation Considers New Mexican Location, Discusses 10-Year Industrial Lease
Yura Corporation, a South Korean supplier of automotive wiring systems and electrical components to Hyundai Motor and Kia, is considering Ciudad Valles in Mexico’s San Luis Potosí state as a potential location for new operations, according to a local media report.
Código San Luis reported on October 22 that Mayor David Armando Medina Salazar had met with a Yura representative to discuss the possible lease of a 25,000-square-metre industrial building for 10 years.
Under the proposal, local investors would construct the building for Yura to lease. The city is seeking landowners and investors to support the development.
Código San Luis identified the Yura representative at the meeting as Jaepil Han, a general affairs and human resources manager. Medina said he was seeking to bring together landowners and investors capable of financing the building and presenting a proposal to the company.
Yura specializes in wiring harnesses, the networks of cables that distribute electrical power and signals throughout a vehicle. Its main customers include Hyundai Motor and Kia. The company also produces electronic control modules and components for electrified vehicles, and operates manufacturing sites in countries including China, Vietnam and Mexico.
The mayor acknowledged that no investment had been confirmed, while describing the city’s consideration as a potential location as a positive development. The report did not specify an investment amount, production plans, projected employment or an operational timetable.
