2025년초에 설립된 제네시스AI는 유럽 최고의 인공지능 기업인 미스트랄 AI의 초기 투자기록과 맞먹는 1억500만 달러(한화 1450억원)의 투자금을 유치하는 데 성공했다.
구체적인 기업가치는 공개되지 않았지만, 이번에 발표된 로봇 ‘에노’는 타사 모델을 빌려 쓰지 않고, 제네시스 AI가 자체 개발한 인공지능 모델을 기반으로 작동한다. 회사 측은 에노를 사람의 외형을 흉내 는 로봇이 아닌 오직 인간의 작업 능력을 향상시키는 도구로 개발했다고 설명했다.
제네시스 AI는 이르면 2026년 말부터 제품 대량 생산에 돌입하여 물류와 제조업체에 가장 먼저 로봇을 공급하고, 이후 호텔·병원·일반 가정용 순으로 시장을 넓혀갈 계획이다.
투자자로 참여한 에릭 슈미트 전 구글 CEO는 성명을 통해 "이 로봇은 인간의 자리를 빼앗는 것이 아니라 전문성을 증폭시키는 역할을 할 것이며, 인공지능 시대에 가장 큰 경제적 기회가 될 것"이라고 밝혔다.
